Woman cop arrests ‘fiancé’ for fraud

Guwahati: Months before their wedding, a woman Assam police officer arrested her fiancé on fraud charges on Wednesday in Nagaon district.
The woman sub-inspector of Nagaon Sadar police station, Junmoni Rabha, said her fiancé Rana Pogag, a resident of Majuli, had faked his identity as a public relations officer (PRO) at Oil and Natural Gas Corporation (ONGC) and duped many people in Majuli for crores of rupees on the pretext of providing jobs at the ONGC.
They were engaged in October last year and were supposed to tie the knot in November. Rana met her in January last year when she was posted in Majuli.
She told the media that she got suspicious of him after she was transferred to Nagaon.
