GUWAHATI: Celebrating the ‘Wildlife Week’, a webinar on conservation of highly endangered greater adjutant stork was conducted at Regional Science Centre in Guwahati (RSCG) on Sunday evening, where eminent conservation biologist and Green Oscar awardee Dr Purnima Devi Barman was the chief speaker.

The webinar was organized by Ramendra Medhi, Regional Science Centre, educational officer, Pandey said.

Chief speaker Dr Purnima Devi Barman spoke about the various measures and conservation techniques of the endangered Greater Adjutant Stork. She also urged all the section of the people in the state to come out with an initiative to protect the different endangered species in the state.

Dr Barman has also raised a point on setting up a Greater Adjutant Stork (Hargila Corner) corner in order to develop the sense of protecting this endangered species. In the webinar, as per discussion by Sailendra Pandey and Basudev Mandal, she submitted a proposal in this regard to the Regional Science Centre.

She also informed that one can contact her through social media platforms like Facebook, Twitter and Instagram for any kind of queries regarding the conservation techniques.

expressed his serious concern over the matter and highlighted the fact that a similar kind of species of Greater Adjutant Stork is also under threat in Bihar’s Bhagalpur. He also sought similar kind of projects in order to protect the endangered species in Bihar. Dr. Barman said that they are ready to extend all kind of help in this regard, if being invited to do so.
