Two trading scam prime accused in cop net again
Silchar: In a dramatic development in the Rs 400-crore trading scam that shook Sribhumi district last year, police have re-arrested two key suspects. Shakil Ahmed, 24, and Rajdeep Deb, 23, were taken into custody from their homes on Wednesday following a new complaint by Sujit Sengupta, who claims he was defrauded in a similar scheme. The arrests were made under Karimganj PS Case No. 298/25, and the accused have been remanded in seven-day police custody after appearing in court. Sengupta alleges that the duo, through their trading firm, promised high returns for hefty investments but failed to deliver, subsequently disappearing without a trace. This is not the first time Ahmed and Deb have been in police custody. Earlier this year, they were arrested in connection with the same scam after a complaint by Kartik Dey. Ahmed was apprehended in Duliajan on March 20, and Deb was caught in Churaibari, Tripura, on April 3. Both were released on bail but remained on the ‘most wanted' list for their role in the massive financial fraud. The re-arrest marks a significant breakthrough in the stalled investigation.
