Silchar: Two bodies were found in separate isolated areas under the Katigorah circle in Cachar district on Wednesday, according to police reports.The first body, identified as Dawaan Shayla from Umkiang, East Jaintia Hills district, Meghalaya, was discovered early in the morning near Lakhicherra on NH-6 (Badarpur-Shillong road). Villagers spotted the youth's body lying by the roadside and promptly alerted authorities. Police swiftly arrived at the scene, recovered the body, and confirmed the identity with family members at the Gumra police investigation centre. The body was subsequently sent to Silchar Medical College and Hospital (SMCH) for an autopsy.In a separate incident, the decomposed body of an unidentified woman was found in Balirbond village under the Katigorah police station area. The body, which had floated down the Barak River, was discovered stuck on a sandbar near the village. Villagers notified the police, who recovered the body and sent it to SMCH for an autopsy.Authorities have launched investigation into both cases, seeking to uncover the circumstances surrounding these deaths.
