Guwahati: Tezpur University has proposed the erection of a statue of
Zubeen Garg at a designated site on its campus. The university is also considering conferring Garg a posthumous honorary doctorate in recognition of his contributions to Assamese culture and music. These proposals followed student protests that started Sunday as students opposed the conduct of student council elections in the university on Saturday, a day after Zubeen’s death.
