Tripura ex-CM slams Mamata, says TMC continued decades of poor governance
Agartala: Former Tripura CM and BJP Lok Sabha MP Biplab Kumar Deb on Friday launched a sharp attack on West Bengal CM Mamata Banerjee, alleging that the Trinamool Congress (TMC) govt has continued decades of poor governance initiated by the Left Front in the 1990s.
Speaking to the media, Deb claimed that maladministration has weakened the state’s economy, triggered an industrial exodus, and left youth with inadequate employment opportunities. He positioned BJP as the only viable alternative, promising to restore development, dignity, and effective governance in West Bengal.
Deb alleged that nearly 1.5 crore youths have migrated from the state in search of jobs, blaming what he described as TMC’s “anti-industry and appeasement-oriented policies”. He claimed that around 7,000 industries, both small and large, have shut down or relocated due to an unfavourable business climate.
Criticising TMC’s slogan “Ma, Mati, Manush” (Mother, Land, People), Deb dismissed it as a hollow catchphrase that has failed to deliver tangible benefits. He accused the state’s leadership of prioritising personal and political interests over public welfare, pointing to a worsening financial crisis marked by rising debt and stagnant incomes.
Highlighting unemployment and industrial decline, Deb warned of the socio-economic impact of large-scale migration. He also accused the TMC govt of undermining the justice system through poor police investigations and political interference, resulting in low conviction rates.
Affirming the BJP’s solidarity with the people of West Bengal, Deb hinted at the party’s plans to expand its presence in the state, pledging to fight for citizens’ rights and usher in a new era of governance.
