Guwahati: The state government has entered into a collaborative partnership agreement with Curtin University, Australia, to improve the higher education scenario, especially in technical education and research, in
Assam.
Chairing a meeting at his official residence here on Monday, chief minister Tarun Gogoi promised to extend all support and cooperation to Curtin University.
Gogoi advised the state education department to extend the parameters of the agreement in the areas of gap analysis, curriculum and other services to facilitate a paradigm shift in the higher education sector.
Under the partnership agreement, Curtin University will collaborate with the education department and Assam Science and Technology University (ASTU) in developing and implementing a world-class, Washington Accord-accredited programme to improve technology, education and research in the state.
State education minister Sarat Barkotoky, additional chief secretary of administrative reforms and training, information technology and education department, Rajiv Kumar Bora, vice-chancellor of ASTU Pradyut Kumar Goswami and pro vice-chancellor of Curtin University Andris Tales Stelbovis attended Monday’s meeting.
