GUWAHATI: Union home minister Amit Shah launched an attack against Congress for using derogatory reference to PM Narendra Modi’s name.

While addressing an election rally at Mon in Nagaland, Shah said the standard of opposition party members started falling, ever since Rahul Gandhi became their leader.

An obvious reference to Congress spokesman Pawan Khera’s comments last week, where he referred to the PM as Narendra ‘Gautam Das’ Modi, before saying he was genuinely confused, Shah said, “The kind of language the Congress spokesperson has used for the PM and the sort of reaction it has drawn from people from across the country... You will see Rahul Gandhi that the Congress will not be visible even through telescopes after the Lok Sabha polls in 2024. People will respond through the ballot box.”

Shah made no reference to the objectionable language or named the Congress spokesperson in his speech.

“Our PM is respected world over. He has brought happiness to the lives of the country’s 80 crore poor. For such a beloved PM of ours, the kind of language which has been used is something I strongly condemn,” Shah said.
