Speaking as the guest of the month at Guwahati Press Club here, he said, "Sattriya dance is the pride of Assam. It is one of the eight classical dance forms of the country."

The artiste recalled his days with Kalaguru Bishnu Prasad Rabha and said, "I used to go to Rabha's house to learn different hand and eye movements. I have never met a person with such vast knowledge about Sattriya dance."

Commenting on the modernization of the dance form, Goswami said certain modifications could be made to it without sacrificing its originality. "When somebody performs inside a sattra, they are not bothered about the audience. When it comes to performing on stage, the audience's likes and dislikes should be paramount," he said.
