Aizawl: Police officials of Mizoram’s Saitual district have seized 6.683kg of morphine estimated to be worth over Rs 6.68 crore at the outskirts of Keifang town on Sunday and arrested three persons from
Assam, police said on Monday.
The officials stopped a truck bearing Assam registration at the outskirts of Keifang driven by Raju Giri (32), a resident of Bokajan CF, Karbi Anglong, Assam. After checking, they discovered 6.683kg of morphine (13 packets) concealed in a false hole near the driver’s seat. They also discovered and seized 12 grams of heroin from the same truck.
The police also arrested two passengers of the vehicle — Karnamani Das (26) of Nagaon, Assam and Ganesh Das (40) of Kamrup Metro, Assam. The truck was coming from Manipur towards Aizawl.
