The driver, Dilwar Hossain Laskar from Dholai, has been arrested in connection with the seizure.

Silchar: In one of the biggest anti-narcotics crackdowns this year, Cachar Police on Thursday seized yaba tablets worth Rs 12 crore from a vehicle near Atalbasti Bypass in Silchar and arrested a man from Dholai.Acting on specific intelligence, a police team intercepted an SUV and discovered a specially designed hidden chamber inside the vehicle. From it, they recovered 40,000 Yaba tablets. The driver, identified as Dilwar Hossain Laskar (40) of Rajgobindpur, Dholai, was taken into custody.The seized consignment tested positive for methamphetamine using a drug detection kit. Police said the drugs had been transported from Churachandpur in Manipur, a route increasingly used by traffickers. The contraband and vehicle were seized in the presence of independent witnesses, and an investigation is under way.“This is a major success in our sustained campaign against narcotics in Barak Valley. We are committed to breaking the supply chain and dismantling the syndicates,” a senior police officer said.
