Aizawl: Officials from the governor's office and household staff bid farewell to departing Mizoram governor Hari Babu Kambhampati at the Raj Bhavan before his departure on Thursday, Raj Bhavan sources said.
At 9 am, chief minister Lalduhoma, assembly speaker Lalbiakzama, home minister K Sapdanga, chief secretary Khilli Ram Meena, DGP Anil Shukla and other senior officials received Kambhampati at the Lengpui airport near Aizawl. The state police band performed the national anthem and presented a guard of honour before his departure for Bhubaneswar at 11:15 am. He is scheduled to take oath as governor of Odisha on Friday.
Taking office on July 19, 2021, Kambhampati succeeded PS Sreedharan Pillai. On Jan 9, Gen. Vijay Kumar Reddy will take charge as Mizoram governor.
Throughout his governorship in Mizoram, Kambhampati travelled extensively across the state, focusing on public welfare, particularly those unable to access central schemes for farmers and workers. He consistently encouraged the state govt and officials to enhance awareness about central schemes among the underprivileged sections of society.
