and one other person, Farid Ali, in the case.The DIG, who was suspended by the state government on July 20 last year for his “numerous foreign visits since 2011 without obtaining prior permission from the government”, was arrested by the vigilance cell on October 5.The vigilance cell during inquiry found that the

possessed immovable and movable assets to the tune of Rs 4,00,99,597, which are disproportionate to his known sources of income during the period from 1992 to 2021. It was also found that he incurred over Rs 1.74 crore as educational expenditure of his two children till date.The cell had also collected the international travel history of Hazarika, which police said reveals that he had left the country and travelled abroad nine times without permission from competent authorities.
