Sarma was addressing an election rally in Nagaland’s Pughoboto town.

Crediting the BJP-NDPP coalition for paving the way for respecting the aspirations of the Naga people and preserving their uniqueness, Sarma said, “We have made very good progress in resolving the Naga political issue. We are still talking, but for the first time we have created a positive climate to peacefully settle the Naga political issue so that the aspirations and uniqueness of Naga people can be maintained in a bigger landscape,” Sarma said at the rally.

“Nagaland politics was for a long time seeing many ups and downs until BJP-NDPP formed the government in 2018 and gave the people of Nagaland the most stable government. In a way, the last five years have been the best period for Nagaland. We ran a government successfully under the leadership of CM Rio,” the chief minister added.
