NFR civil engg dept wins cricket tournament

GUWAHATI: The civil engineering department of NF Railways won the N N Bora Memorial Inter-departmental Limited Over Tennis Ball Cricket Tournament defeating the signal & telecommunication wing by 17 runs in the final match.
Electing to bat first, the engineering department scored 103 runs in the stipulated 20 overs for the loss of 8 wickets. In reply, the signal & telecommunication wing could only make 86 runs losing all the wickets in 18.3 overs.
The match was held on the NFR Sports Association ground, Maligaon.
The tournament, which commenced on February 11 this year with participation of 12 teams from various departments of NFR HQ, saw several exciting moments of action.
Amal Das of the engineering department was declared the man of the match while Ajay Das of the rival team was declared the man of the series.
