Guwahati: Lorence Kachari, a young filmmaker from Dimapur, will make a foray into Bollywood soon. Come June, Kachari will start shooting for The Evil End, a zombie flick for young adults.
Describing the film as an ambitious medium-budget venture, Kachari told TOI that the movie would cost around Rs 50 lakh.
Inspired by Hollywood zombie flicks like Wrong Turn, Dawn of the Dead, Day of the Dead and Night of the Living Dead, The Evil End has been a long-cherished dream of Kachari's.
"The plot of the film is about a group of youngsters who face unexpected events while passing through a highway. The script has been written by Prasenjit Dutta," Kachari said.
While young filmmakers trying to make a mark in Bollywood prefer the safer option of mushy romantic flicks, Kachari's choice of a zombie-thriller was deliberate. The director said he wanted to work on a subject that is not cliched.
"I will start shooting for The Evil End in June. The actors have almost been chosen. They are from Nagaland," he added. To inspire other directors to shoot in the northeast, Kachari will base a section of his film in Nagaland and other parts of the region.
