Mizoram guv lauds AR role in combating drug trafficking
Aizawl: Mizoram governor Hari Babu Kambhampati on Friday praised the Assam Rifles stationed in Mizoram for their exceptional work in combating drug trafficking, seizing illegal items and narcotics worth crores, and their recent success in recovering weapons and capturing insurgents.During a ceremony at Raj Bhavan in Aizawl, Kambhampati honoured 35 Assam Rifles personnel with Governor's Gold and Silver Medals at the 2024 Investiture Ceremony, recognising their outstanding service performance. He also commended their significant contributions to development and public welfare through Civil Action Projects.The governor noted that the Assam Rifles, among India's oldest paramilitary forces, has earned the title ‘Friends of the Hill People' through their dedicated efforts towards the security and wellbeing of local communities.Kambhampati expressed gratitude to the medal recipients for their exemplary service, acknowledging the support of their families and colleagues. He emphasised that the prestigious Governor's Gold and Silver Medals are bestowed exclusively upon the most deserving Assam Rifles personnel.He urged the awardees to maintain their dedication and use their achievements to inspire greater national service.The ceremony saw the governor presenting 15 gold and 20 silver medals to Assam Rifles personnel for the year 2024.Brigadier Girish Upadhya, DIG, 23 Sector Assam Rifles, along with personnel from all ranks of the Assam Rifles, attended the investiture ceremony.
