GUWAHATI: Assam tourism minister Jayanta Malla Baruah inaugurated the second edition of “Aparup Asom”, a booklet published by the directorate of tourism here on Thursday.

The booklet, which has been published to commemorate the country’s 75th year of independence, features 75 least explored destinations of Assam. In his address, the minister said the initiative to launch a tourist booklet by the directorate of tourism will surely boost the tourism prospects of the lesser visited places of the state.

He also mentioned about the new Tourism Policy, 2022 that was recently passed by the Assam cabinet, where it seeks to create Special Tourism Zones by promoting tea garden visits, wellness initiatives, and adventures, along with the existing wildlife and heritage circuit. He said the government needs to facilitate luxury hospitality sectors to boost business in popular tourist spots by increasing travellers’ footfall from other parts of the country.
