Guwahati: The board of secondary education, Assam (Seba), which has cancelled the examination of Modern Indian Languages (MIL)/English (in lieu) subjects to be held on Saturday following the question paper leak, has now rescheduled the exam on April 1.
Seba on Friday issued a notification stating, “This is to notify to all concerned that in view of the ongoing police investigation regarding the leakage of the question paper of the HSLC Examination 2023, and in order to avoid holding of examination of MIL subjects in a compromised situation, the Board of Secondary Education, Assam has decided to reschedule the examination of MIL/English (IL) subjects earlier scheduled to be held on March 18, 2023. The examination of MIL/English (IL) subjects will now be held one April 2023 from 9am onwards in all the centres of the state of Assam.”
Meanwhile, education minister Ranoj Pegu said the question paper leak should not have happened. “Unfortunately, teachers have been involved in the question paper leak case. We all condemn the act. Police are investigating the case in the right direction and will take appropriate action,” he added.
On the role of the Seba chairperson, RC Jain, the minister said “no remissness on the part of the chairperson has been found in the investigation as of now.”
He appealed to students to have patience and appear for the exams on the rescheduled date. The MIL subjects are Assamese, Bengali, Bodo, Hindi, Manipuri, Hmar, Nepali, Mizo, Khasi, Garo, Karbi and Urdu language.
The exam of MIL/ English (in lieu) subjects was cancelled by the Seba immediately after it got to know from police about the leakage of the question paper of the Assamese subject.
