Shillong: CM and National People’s Party (NPP) president Conrad K Sangma, who leads the NPP-led Meghalaya Democratic Alliance (MDA) govt, campaigned for his party candidate in Assam on Monday.
Sangma addressed a public rally on the theme ‘One Voice, One Northeast’ in Bongaigaon, urging the electorate to support NPP aspirant Ganseng B Sangma for the 28 Boko-Chaygaon (ST) assembly constituency.
“This election is the voice of the northeast, a voice that will resonate from Boko-Chaygaon today,” Sangma said.
Maintaining that various national political parties have tried to “break the northeast and create divisions” for over seven decades now, Sangma urged the people to unite for a “northeast voice”, as was envisioned by his late father and political stalwart from the region, Purno A Sangma.
