AIZAWL: Like the other NE states, the Mizoram government too has been making all out efforts to evacuate Mizo students and others from strife-torn Imphal and the surrounding areas.
CM Zoramthanga said that he had a telephone conversation with Union home minister Amit Shah and Manipur CM N Biren Singh to ensure the safety of all the 'Zo' communities in the neighboring state.

Aircrafts to evacuate the stranded Mizos in Imphal would be arranged, he added.
The state government has been trying to charter aircrafts to evacuate the Mizos from Imphal while contacting the civil aircrafts as well as the Indian Air Force, the CM said. Principal consultant Wing Commander Joe Lalhmingliana said the state had approached Indigo Airlines, but the latter couldn't help
"We have been talking to Alliance Air which has flight services between Aizawl and Imphal, while we have also contacted the Indian Air Force," Lalhmingliana said.
