Manipur govt begins peace outreach, deputy CM Losii Dikho visits Motbung
Imphal: The newly reinstated Manipur govt under chief minister Yumnam Khemchand began its peace mission with deputy CM Losii Dikho reaching out to the people of Motbung in Kangpokpi district on Saturday.
In one of his first programmes after assuming office, Dikho attended the 17th Motbung Veng Tournament 2026, where he declared that peace is the only solution to bring progress and development.
Terming his visit a first step under the peace mission, he urged that personal disputes should not be allowed to escalate into communal conflicts. He also conveyed the message of CM Khemchand, who has assured that programmes and policies for internally displaced persons (IDPs) will be initiated at the earliest.
Recalling the Kuki-Naga conflict, Dikho said people of Motbung had historically stood for peace. With the restoration of a popular govt, he said it was important to reach out to communities and share the govt’s initiatives for peace and normalcy.
He added that under the guidance of central leaders, the new govt has been entrusted with the responsibility of working with commitment to restore peace in the state.
Meanwhile, CM Khemchand chaired a review meeting on Manipur’s economic revival through the promotion of integrated farming systems (IFS) at the cabinet hall of the chief minister’s secretariat on Saturday.
During the meeting, he instructed officials to promote alternative crop cultivation along with allied activities in the hill districts. The discussions also focused on the state’s potential for exporting agricultural and horticultural products.
The meeting was attended by chief secretary Puneet Kumar Goel, additional chief secretary Vivek Kumar Dewangan, and other senior officials.
