Silchar: A 20-year-old woman, who was seven months pregnant, was allegedly strangled to death by her husband in
Silchar, police said on Friday. The accused has been arrested.
The incident occurred in the Madhurband area on Thursday night and came to light on Friday morning.
Police identified the victim as Rabia Begum and the accused as her husband Biru Mia (26). According to preliminary investigation, frequent domestic disputes had been reported in the household over the past few months, allegedly linked to the husband’s extramarital relationship.

“An altercation broke out late at night, during which the accused allegedly strangled his wife,” a police official said.
The body has been sent to Silchar Medical College and Hospital for an autopsy. “We are interrogating the accused to establish the exact sequence of events. Further legal action will follow as per law,” the officer added.
