Jamaat comes under attack from Assam Jamiat
GUWAHATI: A day after Jamaat Ulama-e-Hind (JUEH) expressed confidence on winning the trust of Assam’s Muslims in favour of RSS and BJP, the Assam State Jamiat Ulama (ASJU) on Monday lambasted saying that JUEH is trying to bring in division within the community.
The ASJU, headed by All India United Democratic Front chief and perfume baron Badruddin Ajmal, reacted that JUEH is working for political benefits of BJP by dividing the Muslim community in the state.

“Assam’s Muslims are strongly behind AIUDF, and in coming days we will continue to enjoy their support. Worried by the consolidated support we enjoy, JUEH with the backing of RSS and BJP is trying hard to divide the community. But JEUH’s game plan will never succeed in the state,” ASJU general secretary, Hafiz Bashir Ahmed Quasmi said.
JUEH worked closely with RSS-affiliate Muslim Rashtriya Manch in wooing Muslim voters of Jammu and Kashmir ahead of the assembly polls there earlier this year. On Sunday JUEH said it was confident about bringing in Muslims of Assam close to BJP.
“Our objective is to allay the misunderstandings among Muslims regarding RSS’ ideology. In Jammu and Kashmir we had to face challenges from pro-Pakistan elements and Hurriyats. In Assam, luckily we do not have such challenges. And we are hopeful that Muslims of Assam too will understand that RSS and BJP are not against their interest,” JUEH national president Molana Suhaib Qasmi said here on Sunday.
Congress also criticized JUEH. Congress minister Siddique Ahmed said that Muslims of Assam will not accept RSS’ ideology.
“RSS is using JUEH to make inroads into Muslim community. But Muslims of Assam will not accept it,” Ahmed said.
