IndiGo crisis grounds 28 flights at Dibrugarh airport in 5 days
Dibrugarh: IndiGo’s ongoing operational crisis has significantly disrupted air travel in the northeast, with Dibrugarh airport experiencing 28 flight cancellations over the past five days. The cancellations have left hundreds of passengers stranded, particularly affecting the crucial Dibrugarh-Delhi route.Data from Dibrugarh airport indicates that the mass cancellations began on Dec 5, with 10 IndiGo flights cancelled. The disruptions continued with six cancellations each on Dec 6 and 7, two on Dec 8, and four more on Tuesday, including the key Delhi-Dibrugarh-Delhi service (6E-2314/6604).

Dibrugarh airport director Bangajit Saha confirmed the ongoing issues, stating, “A total of 4 Indigo Movements, including 6E-893/467 and 6E-2314/6604, were cancelled today.”The repeated cancellations on the Dibrugarh-Delhi sector, a vital commercial and travel link, have caused significant inconvenience. Passengers are struggling to find alternative travel options, often facing high last-minute fares.
This situation reflects a broader national issue for IndiGo, which has cancelled over 1,000 flights across its network recently, marking one of its most severe operational challenges in years.IndiGo attributes the cancellations to “technology glitches, adverse weather conditions, rising airspace congestion, and complications from the rollout of updated Flight Duty Time Limitation (FDTL) norms.”With the airline warning of ongoing disruptions, passengers, especially those on the Dibrugarh-Delhi and Dibrugarh-Kolkata routes, are advised to check their flight status thoroughly before traveling to the airport.
