India to become 3rd-largest economy by 2030: Saha
Agartala: Tripura CMManik Saha said he was confident India would become the world’s third-largest economy by 2030, stressing that youth and students would be central to the country’s progress.
Addressing a tribal student conference organised by ABVP, Saha said the govt was committed to inclusivity and pointed to initiatives aimed at promoting local and minority languages. He said strong student participation at the event reflected a positive change in Tripura.
Calling the 18–35 age group the backbone of the country’s future, Saha said the segment accounts for 65% of the population and is key to Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s development agenda, including security, socio-economic growth and infrastructure expansion.
Saha also referred to Tripura’s political past, recalling the Communist era of the 1970s as a period of violence and instability in educational institutions. He said students were drawn into political movements at the cost of academic development, with long-term effects across generations.
Urging students to look beyond academics, he called for participation in nation-building activities such as Swachh Bharat Abhiyan and blood donation drives. He also highlighted the growing role of technology, including artificial intelligence (AI), in education and personal development, citing recent progress and budget investments in AI.
Saha said India’s economy had moved from 11th place to fourth globally and reiterated that it was on course to reach third spot by 2030. He also stressed preserving cultural and traditional heritage while advancing through knowledge and innovation.
