Aizawl: Mizoram home minister K Sapdanga has told the state legislative assembly that the govt has issued over 3.36 lakh inner line permits (ILPs) to Indian citizens visiting the state during the 2024-25 and 2025–26 fiscals, up to Feb 16.Responding in writing to Lalchhandama Ralte of the Mizo National Front (MNF), Sapdanga said the govt earned more than Rs 15.12 crore in ILP fees during the period. He added that 1,117 people were deported to their respective states for either failing to obtain ILPs or overstaying their permits.

The highest number of ILPs were issued to visitors from Assam, followed by Bihar and Jharkhand. Significant applications also came from Tripura, Meghalaya, West Bengal, Uttar Pradesh, Odisha, and Rajasthan.Construction workers make up the largest group of ILP applicants, alongside tourists and businesspersons. Under the Bengal Eastern Frontier Regulation of 1873, non-tribal citizens must obtain ILPs to enter Mizoram and other scheduled areas in the northeast.
