Hundreds march in Arunachal to honour Pahalgam victims

Dibrugarh: Over 600 residents of Miao in Arunachal Pradesh's Changlang district joined the Assam Rifles on Thursday for a solidarity march to honour the victims of the Pahalgam terror attack in Jammu & Kashmir.The march brought together students, govt officials, public representatives and civil society members, who walked alongside Assam Rifles personnel, carrying banners and placards with messages advocating peace and unity."Today, we stand united not just as citizens of Arunachal Pradesh, but as Indians who share the pain of our brothers and sisters in Jammu and Kashmir. This march symbolises our unwavering commitment to peace and our collective strength against those who seek to divide us through violence," said Jowkhong Singpho, a college student, participating in the march.Local leaders who participated in the event emphasised the importance of national unity during challenging times. "The distance between Arunachal Pradesh and Jammu & Kashmir is great, but our hearts beat as one, when it comes to standing against terrorism. This tragedy has affected all of us deeply. We believe peace is our birthright as Indians. We may be from the easternmost part of India, but our solidarity reaches across the nation," Phupthing Mirip, a local community leader said.The event included floral tributes and a two-minute silence observed in memory of those who had lost their lives. Many participants expressed their condolences to the bereaved families while condemning the act.The event concluded with participants collectively echoing the message: "We mourn, we unite, we rise — one nation, one heart."
