Heroin worth over 2 crore seized, 3 held

GUWAHATI: Nearly 300 grams of heroin worth around Rs 2.4 crore was seized from three persons from various parts of Assam, police said on Sunday.

The accused were arrested from Karbi Anglong, Kamrup (M) and Bongaigaon districts, a senior official said.

In the first case, police set up a checkpoint in an area under Borpather police station in Karbi Anglong in the wee hours following a tip-off. “Around 177 grams of heroin was seized from a woman who was travelling in a bus. She had concealed the narcotics in 14 soap boxes,” the official added. Guwahati Police too carried out an anti-drugs operation and arrested a youth in Noonmati area. “Nearly 12 grams of heroin was found on him,” the official said. 46g heroin worth over 30L seized, 6 held in Guwahati

A special task force of Assam Police apprehended six drug peddlers in Guwahati, busting a racket that supplied drugs to youths in the city. They seized 46 grams of heroin worth over Rs 30 lakh. The peddlers were handed over to the police station and will be produced in court. In another incident, five young drug peddlers, including three women, were arrested in Coimbatore for selling ganja near a private college. They used Instagram voice calls to approach drug addicts. 1.5kg of ganja was seized from them.

Rs 1.2 cr worth of heroin seized in US Nagar

A smuggler was arrested in Udham Singh Nagar district, India, and over 1 kilogram of illegal heroin, worth approximately Rs 1.25 crore, was seized. The accused, Sultan Khan, was apprehended during a routine inspection near Dhela Bridge in Kashipur. The recovered illegal smack is valued at an astonishing amount in the illicit drug market.

2 suppliers arrested with 105g heroin

Two men were arrested in Chandigarh for possession of heroin. Davinder Singh, a resident of Sangrur, was caught with 85g of heroin, while Gurcharan Singh, a resident of Sector 56, was found with 20g. Davinder Singh confessed to supplying drugs in the Tricity area. In a separate incident, a member of the Thak Thak gang was arrested for stealing Rs 1.75 lakh from a car driver in Sector 8. The police have urged the public to report any information on drug smugglers and peddlers.
