GUWAHATI: CM Himanta Biswa Sarma on Thursday launched a fresh offensive against state Congress president Gaurav Gogoi, alleging that his wife maintains a bank account in Pakistan.
“She herself has told
Assam Police about her bank account in Pakistan, where she was working and receiving salary. She has not said that she has closed that account,” Sarma said, adding that details would be revealed at a press conference on Feb 8.
Gogoi, when asked by media for his reaction, skirted a direct reply saying, “Let all such allegations come, will reply to all.”
The BJP has repeatedly accused Gogoi of having “direct links” with Pakistan, citing alleged connections between his wife and the ISI. The govt has set up an Assam Police SIT to investigate the matter.
