GUWAHATI: The Gauhati Commerce College (GCC), one of the best commerce colleges in the state, has increased its cutoff marks by two per cent for admission to BCom this year for students of all boards. The list was released on Saturday.
The cutoff marks for general students from the state board has been fixed at 74 per cent and for those from CBSE and other boards is 92 per cent.
Last year, the cutoff for state board students was 72% and for those of other boards it was 90%.
GCC vice-principal Plabon Gohain said, "The cutoffs vary based on the number of applications received and the percentages secured by students in the board exams. This year results were very good and as a result there is a huge rush despite the limited seats."
He said around 1,500 students have applied for 720 seats. "Of these, 15% seats are reserved for students of CBSE, around 35% for SC/ST and OBC categories," he said.
The admission process is scheduled on Monday.
