First phase of renovation work at Gauripur palace nears completion

Dhubri: The first phase of renovation work on the palatial residence of Padma Shri awardee Pratima Barua Pandey at Matiabag near Gauripur in Assam’s Dhubri district is nearing completion and is expected to be finished by Feb this year.The renovation, costing around Rs 20 crore, is aimed at converting the historic palace into a museum, showcasing the life and legacy of the legendary folk singer and the rich heritage of the Gauripur royal family. The Assam govt had formally taken over the residence in Jan 2023, at a cost of Rs 15.20 crore. CM Himanta Biswa Sarma had performed Bhoomi Pujan for the project on Jan 2, 2023.
