GUWAHATI: The Board of Secondary Education Assam (Seba) will circulate separate answer scripts for objective and descriptive questions to the Class X board examinees this year.
As per the New Education Policy’s (NEP) thrust on conceptual and knowledge-based learning, 50% of weightage in the theory papers of four core subjects will be on objective questions, while the rest 50% on descriptive questions. The four core subjects are English, mathematics, science and social science. Internal assessment was done for 10 marks in each paper. Theory exam covers 90 out of 100 marks.
“Since objective and descriptive will be of two categories, we will have two different types of answer scripts for each of the four papers of as many core subjects,” said NJ Sarmah, Seba controller of examinations.
He said multiple choice questions, one liner or one word answers will be features of the objective part, for which specific space has been allotted.
Sarmah informed that the answer script of the objective question paper will be distributed 15 minutes before the commencement of the exam, while the one for descriptive questions will be distributed one hour later. “It’s going to be a new pattern of Class X board exams in Assam and we are the pioneering board in doing so in the northeast,” he said.
Over 4 lakh candidates have registered for class X board exams starting from March 3.
