EC probe against Manik Sarkar

AGARTALA: The Election Commission has started an investigation against Tripura chief minister Manik Sarkar for violation of model code of conduct on Thursday, said state chief election officer Ashutosh Jindal. Earlier, the opposition Congress accused Sarkar of campaigning for the CPM using his office chamber. Besides, another investigation into an allegation that the CPM has distributed 227 cheques of Rs 10,000 each to minority voters in Sonamura sub-division of West Tripura is over.The report has been already sent to the EC.
