Guwahati: Kamrup (Metropolitan) district administration has declared a dry day ahead of the upcoming polls, a notification issued by the office of the DC’s excise branch read.
The notification said the dry period will be in force from 5pm on Tuesday to 5pm on Thursday. The restriction will also apply on May 4, the day of vote counting, and remain in effect until the counting process is completed.
All wholesale and bonded warehouses, Indian Made Foreign Liquor (IMFL) retail ‘ON’ and ‘OFF’ shops, clubs, hotels serving liquor, microbreweries, composite liquor shops and country spirit shops will remain closed during this period.
The administration said violations of the dry day order will invite penal action.
