NEW DELHI: Police in Guwahati arrested four individuals on Wednesday, including one woman, and confiscated drugs valued at over Rs 3 crore.
The operation unfolded at a guest house located in the city's Hatigaon area, according to a series of posts on X by the Guwahati police.
The seized narcotics include heroin and 'Yaba' tablets. "An EGPD team from Dispur PS seized 10,000 'Yaba' tablets, 11 grams of suspected heroin in 5 soap boxes after it carried out a raid," the police stated.
The East Guwahati Police District (EGPD) team apprehended the four individuals, including a 40-year-old woman, suspecting them to be drug peddlers. Authorities also seized four mobile phones and Rs 5,000 in cash from the group.
A senior official confirmed the estimated value of the seized drugs to be over Rs 3.08 crore, based on Narcotics Control Bureau (NCB) standards.
'Yaba', also known as "crazy medicine" in Thai, is a tablet containing a mixture of methamphetamine, a highly addictive stimulant, and caffeine.
