Guwahati: Foreign delegates from 8 nations representing various election management bodies will visit Assam on April 8 and 9 to witness the assembly polls and get a first-hand understanding of India’s electoral process.
The visiting team will comprise representatives from Angola, Bhutan, Egypt, Portugal, Sri Lanka, Mexico, Benin and Croatia. According to the election department, the delegates will, on April 8, attend briefings by the Assam chief electoral officer and visit dispatch centres and control rooms to assess election preparedness at the field level. On April 9, they will visit polling stations in several districts to observe voting procedures, security arrangements and the use of election technologies.
