Dairy plant producing 40,000L of milk per day opens in Tripura

Agartala: Union minister for fisheries, animal husbandry and dairying Rajiv Ranjan Singh announced on Saturday that a central expert team will visit Tripura in July to support the state's efforts towards self-sufficiency in milk and fish production.

During the inauguration of a 40,000-litre milk per day dairy plant in Bamutia, north of Agartala, Singh highlighted Tripura's capacity to achieve self-reliance in both milk production and fisheries. He confirmed that the central govt is reviewing the state's proposed projects.

"The ministry has a mission to make not only Tripura, but also other states of northeast self-sufficient in the production of fish, meat, egg, milk, and dairy products," Singh said.

A delegation consisting of representatives from the animal husbandry department, National Dairy Development Board (NDDB), and National Fisheries Development Board (NFDB) will develop a detailed plan with the Tripura govt to enhance fishery, dairy and animal husbandry sectors.

"In June, discussions will be held, and a team including officials from animal husbandry, NDDB, and NFDB will visit Tripura along with me. We will meet the CM and state officials to deliberate on a roadmap...," Singh said.

Singh acknowledged Tripura's potential in animal husbandry and fishery. He urged CM Manik Saha and ARDD minister Sudhangshu Das to implement progressive measures for development, while stressing the significance of artificial insemination in increasing milk production and assisting farmers.
