Shillong: Meghalaya CM Conrad K Sangma on Sunday said his govt was in the process of establishing homes for the elderly across different parts of the state, based on the concept of promoting “active and happy ageing”.
“I am very keen to see how we can establish these active ageing centres and collaborate with institutions like the Nabon Memorial Home for the benefit of our elderly and senior citizens,” the CM said.
Announcing an aid of Rs 25 lakh from the CM’s Special Development Fund for Nabon Memorial Home, which also functions as an anganwadi centre, Conrad said such centres could serve as “intergenerational spaces and vibrant hubs” where seniors and children interact.
