Centre team visits Churachandpur relief camps
Imphal: A team from the Centre led by Union home secretary Govind Mohan, IAS, and director (Intelligence Bureau), MHA Tapan Kumar Deka, IPS, visited two relief camps in Churachandpur and oversaw their well-being. The team was accompanied by Manipur chief secretary PK Singh, director general of police Rajiv Singh, deputy commissioner of Churachandpur Dharun Kumar and other officials.After landing at 36 AR's Helipad at Headquarters Veng, the team went to a relief centre at Dorcas Veng, New Lamka, where the Mohan inaugurated a creche facility for children and a women's tailoring programme, both aimed at supporting and empowering women and children residing in the relief camp. Later, the team visited a relief camp at Sadhbhavna Mandap, Tuibong. Mohan also inaugurated a creche-cum-children's library to further strengthen child-focused support at the camp. At both the camps, the officials interacted with the IDPs, reviewed the available infrastructure, inspected relief materials and assessed the overall condition of the camps.
