CBSE Class 12 results dip for 2nd yr in Guwahati zone, Mizoram excels

Guwahati: For the second successive year, CBSE Class XII results recorded a drop in pass percentage in Guwahati zone, while the region ranked at the bottom of Class X results (declared on Monday) among all the regions of the country.

In Class X boards, Nagaland produced best results (96.77%). Strife-torn Manipur did not disappoint and recorded 95.46% pass percentage, the second best in northeast. In Class XII boards, Mizoram produced best results (97.77%).



While the pass percentage last year plummeted by around 9% for Guwahati zone, that covers eight northeastern states, this year it reduced to less than 2% — a drop from 83.73% recorded in 2023, to 82.05%. At 77.94%, Guwahati region was ranked at the bottom in Class X results among all regions of CBSE, though it was marginal improvement from last year’s 76.9%. The overall pass percentage this year for Class XII is 87.98%, a marginal increase of 0.65% from last year. The corresponding figure for Class X was 93.6%, an increase of 0.48%.

In Guwahati zone, girls outshone boys in both Class X and XII board exams.

For Class X, pass percentage of boys was recorded to be 77.48, while that of the girls was 78.44. There was total 70,544 registered candidates for Class X boards from the region, of whom 69,475 appeared in the exam.

In Class X boards, Assam recorded a pass percentage of 94.71, Meghalaya recorded 94.69, Tripura 72.66 and Mizoram 95.33.Arunachal Pradesh and Sikkim remained at the bottom of the northeastern states with pass percentages of 59.31 and 67.24 respectively.

While Assam had 93.98 pass percentage, Tripura was at the bottom of the tally among northeastern states with 65.50% in Class XII. The success rate of the rest of the northeastern states were — Arunachal Pradesh 73.39%, Meghalaya 95.71%, Manipur 93.02%, Nagaland 95.68% and Sikkim 88.83%.

In Class XII boards too, Kendriya Vidyalayas shone with 98.99% followed by Jawahar Navodaya Vidyalayas (97.91%), Independent schools (90.95%) and govt schools of Arunachal Pradesh, Sikkim and Tripura (72.84%).
