Dibrugarh: Pratyush Patowary of Guwahati topped the Medical Entrance Examination (MEE), 2016, the results of which were declared on Wednesday.
As many as 18,656 candidates had appeared for the entrance test, which was conducted by Dibrugarh University, for admission to 588 MBBS and 16 BDS seats in Assam.
Pratyush secured 263 out of 300 with an aggregate of 87.6%.

He obtained 85 in physics, 88 in chemistry and 90 in biology. His father, Pankaj Patowary, is a resident of Maligaon and is employed as a chief engineer with ONGC in Mumbai. His mother Jyotima is a housewife.
Pratyush passed his Class XII board exam this year from Delhi Public School, Guwahati, with a CGPA score of 10. He also secured an all-India rank of 272 in the AIIMS MBBS entrance examination this year.
Indrani Das of Guwahati came second in the MEE, scoring an aggregate of 260 and a percentage of 86.6. A resident of Srimantapur, her father, Utpal Das, is a senior medical officer of the Maternity and Child Welfare Hospital in Dhirenpara, Guwahati, while her mother Bonti Bora is the head of physiology at Gauhati Medical College and Hospital. Indrani passed her Class XII exam from Cotton College with 89.8%.
The other rank-holders are Jigyasa Goswami (third) from Guwahati, Nayan Jyoti Sarma (fourth) from Nalbari and Tausif Mohammed Sanaur Rahman Mazumdar (fifth) from Silchar.
Controller of examination Jiten Hazarika said altogether 5,731 candidates out of 18,656 managed to qualify in the entrance examination. A total of 963 candidates did not turn up for the test which was held on July 16 and 17.
