Body of missing 4-year-old found in urinal in Assam's Dibrugarh

DIBRUGARH: The body of a four-year-old boy was found wrapped in a white cloth in an abandoned urinal in PWD colony near the old high school field in Dibrugarh on Friday morning, police said.

The boy had gone missing from his house in Malipatty area of the town on January 30. CCTV footage showed the boy walking hand-in-hand with a man, who was later identified by police as Suraj Karmakar. He was arrested on Thursday following an FIR lodged by the boy's father, Ranjit Bailung.

SP Shwetank Mishra said, "The accused, Suraj Karmakar, can be seen walking with the child in the CCTV camera moments after he went missing. Karmakar is a drunkard. We suspect that he murdered the child and dumped his body in the abandoned urinal. We are questioning him and the motive of the crime will be known soon."
