BJP to chalk out poll strategies in two-day executive meet from Friday
Guwahati: The two-day long executive meeting of BJP will begin on Friday to outline strategies for elections for the 126-member legislative assembly, which is likely to be held in March-April next year.
BJP’s state president Dilip Saikia said on Thursday the party’s national working president Nitin Nabin, national general secretary (Org) BL Santosh, and newly appointed election in-charge for Assam and national vice-president of the party Baijayant Panda will hold the meeting here, where 900 BJP leaders of different levels across the state will take part.
“Every aspect will be minutely examined during the meeting for chalking out the strategies for elections. They will guide us,” he added. However, he said, BJP takes every election very seriously and does not take rest. He added that the party began working at the grassroots level soon after the 2021 assembly elections.
Union home minister Amit Shah is likely to visit the state to finalise the poll strategies by the end of Dec or in the first half of Jan. The party is targeting over 100 seats in the 126-member house this time and believes that the delimitation of the assembly seats in 2022-23 will help the party in securing more seats.
The NDA here is also aiming to increase their vote share in the upcoming elections compared to the previous elections. Last week, CM Himanta Biswa Sarma said the NDA is aiming to secure over 50% vote share in the upcoming assembly elections in Assam. He reiterated that NDA will return to power in the state but declined to speculate on the exact number of seats the BJP is likely to win.
