BJP alleges secret establishment of Qawmi madrasas in Assam’s ‘char’ areas

Guwahati: BJP in Assam has raised concerns over the alleged secret establishment of hundreds of Qawmi madrasas in the state’s riverine (char) areas and said the curriculum of these madrasas is similar to those run by Jamaat-e-Islami in Bangladesh and the Haqqani Network in Pakistan.

BJP spokesperson Ranjib Kumar Sarmah drew parallels between the killing of Assamese people during the 1983 anti-foreigner movement in Assam and burning Dipu Chandra Das alive in Bangladesh, suggesting a pattern of religiously motivated brutality by a particular community. “For Miya Muslims, there exists no separate idea of language or culture. For them, religion alone is the final and supreme truth. In the name of religion, they are always prepared to commit adharma at any level,” he added.

He added that in 1983, Dayanath Sharma and others were hacked to death with machetes after being trapped in fishing nets at Garukhuti in Dhalpur of Darrang district. “Similarly, on March 20 1983 at Laletapu, Tezpur, Bhupen Deka, Prasanna Barua, Balin Nath, Shyam Kundu, Jayaram Barua, Biren Mishra, and Palash Rajbongshi were first brutally attacked with machetes by Miya Muslims and, after being grievously injured, chili powder was rubbed on their bleeding bodies and they were killed inch by inch in a most inhuman manner,” he said.

He added, “These barbaric killings of 1983 were in no way less brutal than the recent murder of Dipu Chandra Das in Bhaluka, Bangladesh. Therefore, it must be stated clearly that for miya Muslims, religion comes first. They never give priority to language or culture. To establish religious supremacy through political dominance, calling others ‘kafirs’ and brutally killing people of different beliefs becomes a normal process for them. Such incidents have repeatedly occurred across the world.”

Sarmah further stated that after establishing political dominance through population explosion, miya Muslims unleash ruthless atrocities on people of other religions. He added that in Bangladesh, both Hindus and Muslims have Bangla as their mother tongue and Bengali culture, but their religions are different.

“Therefore, the Islamic majority has been carrying out unspeakable atrocities on Hindu minorities and forcing religious conversions. The incident involving Dipu Chandra Das is merely one example of the miya Muslim mindset,” Sharma said.

Stating that hundreds of Qawmi madrasas have been secretly established in Assam’s char and chapori areas (riverine areas), Sharma alleged that there is virtually no difference between the curriculum of madrasas run by Jamaat-e-Islami in Bangladesh and the Haqqani Network in Pakistan, and the Qawmi madrasas operating in Assam’s char areas.
