Silchar: Decomposed body of a businessman from Sribhumi’s Kaliganj area was recovered from beneath a culvert near Chengbeel along the Bhairabnagar–Saraspur road in Hailakandi district on Friday, reports BB Goswami.The trader, identified as Saidul Islam, was missing for nearly a week. The body, wrapped in a sack, was recovered after locals noticed a foul smell emanating from the spot. Police later shifted the body to Hailakandi SK Roy Civil Hospital for an autopsy.According to family members, Saidul left home around 3 pm last Friday after receiving a phone call and did not return. A missing complaint was also filed.Police officials said an investigation has been launched to trace those behind the crime. “We are following all leads. The culvert area has been cordoned off and evidence has been collected. The culprits will be brought to justice,” an officer said.
