Guwahati: Dr Bhubaneswar Borooah Cancer Institute (BBCI) in Guwahati celebrated the 132nd birth anniversary of Lokabandhu Dr Bhubaneswar Borooah with a heartfelt commemorative event on Thursday.
Dr Borooah, an eminent physician, freedom fighter, educationist, and philanthropist, is celebrated for his pioneering contributions to modern healthcare and social reform in Assam. Known as Lokabandhu, or “Friend of the People”, his dedication to societal welfare continues to inspire many.
The event began with a floral tribute at Dr Borooah’s statue, led by the director, senior faculty, staff, and students of BBCI. Dr Bibhuti B. Borthakur, director of BBCI, welcomed attendees and emphasised the lasting relevance of Dr Borooah’s vision in today’s healthcare landscape.
