Guwahati: Hundreds of sadhus have arrived at the Kamakhya temple, one of the 51 Shakti Peethas, for the Ambubachi Mela, which will begin on June 22.
Assam chief minister
Himanta Biswa Sarma, in view of the ongoing construction of the Maligaon flyover, has appealed to the devotees and tourists to avoid visiting the temple at night to avert any possible accidents. Sarma said, “Thousands of devotees will gather during the Ambubachi Mela.
People are facing severe traffic congestion due to the construction works of the flyover from Maligaon to Kamakhya gate. Recently, 2 workers were injured after an iron shuttering plank fell on them. Therefore, the devotees are requested to visit the temple only during daytime.”
The district administration and police are at work to chalk out a plan to deal with traffic and crowd during the mela. Around 400 CCTV cameras have been installed around the temple premises.
