SILCHAR: Kolkata-based officials of military intelligence have arrested three men from Masimpur in Cachar district for allegedly swindling 250 people by promising them to offer jobs in the health and education departments and various Army units.
A team of military intelligence officials on Saturday rounded up the three men who have been identified as
Abdul Manan Laskar
,
Jitendra Sinha
and Krishna Prasad Sinha from Masimpur, a military base near Silchar. An amount of Rs 51,700 in cash and some documents were recovered from their possession.
Abdul hails from
Topkhana
near Masimpur in Cachar district, while Krishna is a resident of Katigorah in the same district. Jitendra is a native of Borobekra locality of Jiribam in Manipur.
Meanwhile, a huge number of people, who were allegedly cheated by the three men, blocked the Silchar-Masimpur road near Arunachal police outpost demanding recovery of their money. The three men were handed over to Silchar Sadar police by the intelligence officials in the evening.
A senior police official on Sunday said a case has been registered under several sections of
IPC
and a probe has been initiated.
