DIBRUGARH: Security personnel of
Oil India Limited
intercepted a
tanker
used by miscreants to steal crude oil from Hukanpukhri in Tinsukia district on Thursday night. The tanker was spotted using
drone
surveillance.
Security personnel also prevented miscreants from installing tapping points for crude
oil theft
in Nagajan-Khelmati Chariali in the district, an OIL statement said.
The company has recently set up drone surveillance for its installations and oil and gas pipelines in
Assam to curb theft of crude oil, condensate and pipes, tampering of well heads and tapping of crude oil delivery pipelines. The drone surveillance project also aims to curb such illegal activities by enabling real-time detection of intruders, faster detection of fire incidents, crude oil leaks and spills helping OIL to take quick action.
